A Kabul sanitation worker earns 7,000 AFN a month and pays 2,000 AFN in rent. A Naan Card helps his family count on fresh bread each day.
Cleaning sewage canals is essential work in Kabul. In the June 14 field post, a sanitation worker told Famidi that he earns 7,000 AFN a month and pays 2,000 AFN in rent.
For his family, what remains after rent has to cover food and every other household expense. Famidi gave him a Naan Card for seven fresh naans each day for thirty days at a participating bakery. Bread cannot cover every expense, but it makes one daily need more predictable.
